Server PREMIUM license with Extended VSS Support (= Extended Volume Shadow Copy Support)

Extended VSS Support (= Extended Volume Shadow Copy Support) is a special ViceVersa PRO feature, which includes the ability to:

  1. Create Windows Volume Shadow Copies before Source and Target comparison on Windows Servers. This capability is required to backup and replicate Microsoft SQL and Exchange databases, Hyper-V machines and Oracle databases.

  2. It also includes the ability to use the special vss:\\ notation on Windows Servers as the source and/or target folder to easily select Volume Shadow Copy writers / components to backup and replicate.

To use the Extended VSS Support feature, a special ViceVersa PRO PREMIUM license for Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019, 2016, 2012, 2008 with Extended VSS Support needs to be purchased (see buy page for more info).

The Extended VSS Support is enabled by default in the evaluation version.

The Server PREMIUM license also includes the following features:

  1. The ability to use the profile settings option 'Minimize Memory Usage'. This option is useful to minimize memory usage in large jobs dealing with a lot of files. Memory usage will be halved.

  2. The ability to use the option 'Recheck file / folder security during comparison'. This is a new option to re-check and re-align the selected security attributes for all files and folders in source and in target. When this option is enabled the selected security attributes for files and folders will be re-checked during comparison and they will be re-adjusted during the profile execution, not only for files and folders that are copied but also for files and folders that are already both in source and in target. VVEngine will detect changes to security of existing files/folders and replicate them.

  3. The ability to use Scan Acceleration for local NTFS drives.

ViceVersa PRO Technician License

The ViceVersa PRO Technician License enables a single technician installation of ViceVersa PRO and VVEngine on unlimited servers or PCs/workstations providing that the software is not installed on more than one computer or server at the same time (no concurrent use).

It is a movable license in the name of one technician.

To move the license from server to server, or from PC to PC, ViceVersa/VVEngine need to be uninstalled first from the current server/PC and then installed on the new server/PC. While installed on the one computer or server, the license will allow synchronization, backup and replication to/from max 5 servers/PCs/workstations at the same time.

The Technician License gives you always access to the latest version of the software when released and to previous versions if needed.
