I get a C++ Debug Library window when Comparing Files. I am trying to move 2,653,067 files from a 1.8Tb array. The "Comparing Files" counter is up to 1,337,883,310,931 when it crashes.
I'm working on making sure the arrays are okay (may take a day or two), just wanted to check here to make sure I am not pushing the limits of the program.

Thanks

Hello
It may be a variable overflow caused by the amount of data you are comparing. Are you doing a CRC comparison?

Maybe you could try the new ViceVersa 2.0.0.4 Beta - you can download from the forum. If it crashes it generates a dump file dmp containing extra debugging info. In that case, could you please send the dmp file and log to us. thanks

There was a filesystem error. Fixing it solved the problem. I am using the CRC check. Will know in a few days if it completes okay.

I have noticed that I'm getting 60MB/sec xfer on large files, but only 300KB/sec when transferring small files. Looks to me like the status display in the Sync window is slowing things down. It would be nice if you had a "Quiet Mode" checkbox that would allow me to suspend updating the status info.

Thanks

In the new VV PRO 2.0 copy speed for small files has been improved a lot. We run several tests vs. Windows Explorer and the simple copy command from console. The conclusion is that, overall, large files always copy much faster than many small files no matter which method is used, simply because every file needs to be opened, copied, closed, timestamp changed, etc. We also have an internal version of ViceVersa without the visual interface, but it does not run faster. The bottleneck is really the action of opening many small files for writing.
