Hello,
I am using ViceVersa Pro Beta 2.0.0.2
The trouble is that File/Dir. Security is NOT synchronized.
I tried many arguments!
Can anybody give me a hint?
Thanks
Gert

Are source and target part of the same domain? Can you please post the ViceVersa log file. You can setup a log file in the profile settings. _________________ --

Hai,
It is the same domain the only diff is that the source is a windows 2000 Server and the target is a windows 2003 server.
Is that maybe the prolblem.
I shall try to test it!

Hoi,
In the logging there is a line
"[WARNING] Operating system does not support security descriptions (ACLs). Security descriptions will not be copied. "
Do you have any sugestion have to enable ACL's?

What Operating System are you running ViceVersa on?
What are the file systems of source / target? To find out select Drive Info from the View menu. _________________ --

Hoi,
Source server is a windows 2000 server within ads2000.
Target server is a windows 2003 server also within de same ads2000 domain. (This server is running as a VM within VMware esx 2.5)
Both file-systems are ntfs.

Hi
Could you please try the new VV beta 2.0.0.4 (just posted today). It will log in the log file the type of OS detected and other useful info. Could you please post the log file here (or part of it) or send it via E-Mail.
From what you write it seems that VV is not even trying to copy ACLs because it thinks it is not running on a OS that supports ACLs.... thanks _________________ --

Hello.
I try it version 2.0.0.5. The Log file is no Error now. But still cannot copy the file permission to target folder. Any idea ? Have you try it before on Windows XP Professional ?
Regards

>>> Have you try it before on Windows XP Professional ?
Absolutely. We have tested this on Windows XP and all other Windows platforms. The following points may help pinpoint the problem:
a) Are source and target on PC part of the same domain?
b) Do root source and root target have the same ACL to strart with?
c) What ACL / DACL do not get copied?

I have a similar problem.
I am creating a duplicate directory tree (excluding files) on the same NAS server (NTFS) and get the following in the log file...
2005-11-16 15:35:11 : [WARNING] Unable to activate SeTakeOwnershipPrivilege on computer \\BACS-NAS01\cms-groups.
2005-11-16 15:35:11 : [WARNING] Unable to activate SeBackupPrivilege on computer \\BACS-NAS01\cms-groups.
2005-11-16 15:35:11 : [WARNING] Unable to activate SeRestorePrivilege on computer \\BACS-NAS01\cms-groups. |

Hi - these are privileges that VV needs to copy ACL. Does the account running Viceversa have these privileges? _________________ --
