|
|
Hi there,
I am experimenting with Vice Versa Pro v1.3.1 and I could not find a way to save the result of folder comparison to a file. The closest I could do is to save the snapshot, but it does not provide the result of the comparison, like newer/older files, etc.
I appreciate your help. Thank you very much |

Saving the results of folder comparison is currently not possible. This feature is in the list of possible enhancements for future releases. How would you like to be able to save the comparison? HTML page, Excel file, text document, etc _________________ --

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I would like to save it in a HTML page, simple or a comma-delimited text file.
Thanks. |

I think this would be very useful for auditing changes to a production server! |

I think that would be a useful feature. A good way to audit changes made to production servers. You could setup a compare, target against a snapshot of target. Then set it up in VVEngine, and have it execute when the Target changes. Have it email the results of the compare. The manual compare already shows the new file(s) differences. So you would just need to capture those differences in a environment variable and add that to the log file or email. |

Yes, the features missing for implementing this functionality are:
- VVEngine currently can't do only "compares" without copying files
- The comparison results can't be exported. Using an environment var would not work (they are limited to 2048 chars if I am not mistaken), it would need to be an external special file that could then be attached to an e-mail. _________________ --
