Hi There,

I am looking for a solution for a multi site network. We have one set of data that we would like to replicate across our VPN to four other locations.

Each site needs to be able to add/remove data from this set of folders - and changes need to replicate across to the other sites. I am sure the sync side of things will work fine - though I also need the ability to delete files/folders.

Thanks

No problem, if you setup ViceVersa PRO on the 4 computers with the file synchronization method, when a file is deleted on one site it will also be deleted on the other 4 sites.

I want to do the same thing with 5 sites.

I have been doing with one installation of Vice Versa as doing multiple 2 way synchs to the other locations.
This works fine for copy but can mess up with delete.

A deletion from a site which is not the master (first synch location ) will be copied back from an other site on the following synch

If I install Vice Versa Pro at each site how do I make them communicate?
Do I set up the same multi path synch on each server and point them all to the same synchronisation database file?

Thanks

Hi, are you using separate profiles for the sync, one ore pair? See:

thanks

Thanks for your solution
I write the details of mine as a warning to other users.

I was using one profile (per required folder to be synched) with one sync database at site A that had several folder pairs comparing
sites A<>B, A<>C, A<>D, A<>E

If the deletion takes place site A, all is fine.

However as it compares all sites before making changes, a deletion in site B is only deleted at site A. At the time of comparison site A matches sites C to E
On the next scheduled run the deleted files are seen as existing in sites C to E but not in site A so are copied back 3 times!
On the third scheduled run the deleted files are copied back to site B

I shall change my set up to have a profile per synchronised pair.

That will mean I will have a lot of profiles to schedule but is better that sub folder reorganisations in any site other than site A creating chaos

Cheers

Hi, thanks, you can use VVEngine to schedule all the profiles, see:
http://www.tgrmn.com/web/vvengine/vvengine.htm
If source and target pairs are all on the same two computers, they can be grouped in one profile.
thanks
