We use Vice Versa PRO installed on laptop to sychronise files from the network. I have noticed that if there no network connection and you run Vice Versa it sees that the source has no files and then synchronises to then remove all files from the target. Is there any thing can can be done to help?

This is quite strange, because if the network path is not available VV stops and shows the error "folder X not found. The system cannot find the path specified." In your case it looks like when VV is trying to read the network folder content instead of "not available" it receives the answer "available but with no files" which is wrong. On what type of network are you? If you click on the drive in Windows Explorer when not connected what does it show? thanks _________________ --

Thanks for the quick reply.
I found that the issue was that when the laptop wasn’t connected to the network it was find old remnants of the Windows XP 'Offline File and Folder' which then ViceVersa was checking against those files which actually had little or no files. Once I remove all remnants of the XP File synchronisation ViceVersa then reported an issue, which I would have expected.
We bought Vice Versa to replace the built in synchronisation we found introduced so many issues. I have investigated other file synchronisation and found that your software has some great features and that was the main justification in purchasing ViceVersa Pro.

|
|
I have seen the same problem. I do use XP Offline Files for some folders. I use VV/VL as a service for most of my daily work files. Twice in the last 6 months VV deleted all of my local files because I was Offline (maybe went offline while VV was running, not sure), but VV assumed I was online. Most of the time it works OK. Of course the time it deleted my files I was on business in China
Besides that, I get Offline Files synchronization events occasionally for files that are not marked as make available offline. There is some interaction between the Offline Files mechanism and VV. Today ALL of my VV files were synchronized by XP Offline Files synchronization, even though NONE of them are marked as Make Available offline. _________________ Patrick McCarthy |

Hi, when synchronizing VV will only delete files from one side when files from the other side have been deleted. Between which folders are you synchronizing? _________________ --
