I have read the sticky on the timestamp issue and the suggested fix. I am still having an issue with replication between two LaCie NAS Devices. One is located GMT -5 and the other GMT -7. Both NAS devices are running Windows XP Embedded and I have made sure thier NTP settings are correct and with any files local to thier environment, all timestamps are good. When replicating however, the target (target=both; since I have them both set to synch) reports the timestamp date of "1982" but the actual times are fine...just the year is different.

I am also working with LaCie Tech Support as well to make sure I have not overlooked any settings/patches on the NAS devices.

Thanks in advance ... error log is below

It could be a incompatibility between VV and the NAS. Did you install the latest firmware? thanks

Welp my deadline for the trial period is coming to an end...any help? I really need to purchase an application to do this function, and so far this application has the best features, but if i can't get it to synch.....

I'm still experiencing these problems...any help would be much appreciated.

Tranfered files using VV Pro default to 2/1/1982

Manually copying files keeps the correct date and time.

Looks like the Clie NAS and VV are incompatible... did you try to switch on the option "do not copy to temporary file" in the advanced settings?

Yes, that option is turned on. (Noted above in my settings display).

I have another update...

I totally wiped the destination files (cleared out) and ran VV; this time every other file it copied had the 2/1/1982 while the other file had regualr date. Also, it dropped to 30k sec upload which bumped my copy time from 8hrs to 32 hours.

I'm having this same issue with Maxtor Shared Storage, latest firmware. It's also VERY slow to copy (backup setting) even without a temp file. It caps at 5MB/s no matter what I set the max to. What's up with that?

I have since run out of my trial version and have uninstalled VV. To date I have not found anything that works.

Does the Maxtor Storage run MS Embedded Windows ? I'm thinking that may be the ultimate culprit. I have tried other trial versions of this type of software, and while it doesn't produce the "same" timestamp issues, there are other issues with timestamps and slow performance. In talking with LaCie; apparently they took the Embedded Windows and trimmed it even more...so I'm thinking that they removed some Library files that deal with timestamps and WAN network performance.

VV and Maxtor Shared Storage work fine together, we use the Maxtor Shared Storage with VV on our 2003 server. Are you seeing issues with timestamps?

Re speed, that is quite strange. How does VV compare to the standard Windows Explorer copy when copying the same file, did you test that?

thanks

YES! And I've upgraded the firmware too. It's not working right at all, and copying everything over, every night. Very bad.

As for speed, yes, massive speed issues. In Windows Explorer, I can copy a large file (40GB + ) over at 15-25MB/s. In VV it's always 4-5MB/s.

I just tested VV with our Maxtor Shared Storage and the timestamps are fine. If you copy one file (in the VV comparison Windows) to the MAXTOR and it does not maintain timestamps, then VV will not work OK. I have Win 2003 Server and I am copying files to a UNC path \\NAS\share\ ...

I tested this with one 1GB file and got exactly the same copy time with Windows Explorer and VV.
My test was to compare source and target then once in the VV comparison Window I selected the file from source, right click and selected 'copy to target' from the menu.
Next I deleted the file and copy and paste from source to target using Windows Explorer. It took exactly the same time. Windows Explorer does not show elapsed time or tranfer rate so I had to take the elapsed time manually with a timer.
How long does it take for you to copy the 40 GB in VV and in Windows Explorer?
