|
|
Hello, potential user trying to get my arms around pretty cool product. I have one folder on my laptop that contains my several typical work files and want to sync it with the same files stored/used on my desktop, but in different folders. I need to keep the distinct folder organization on the desktop, but I want the easy access of one folder on the laptop. Have not figured out how to sync these back and forth, with changing/creating folders, etc. Thank you. |

Hello - you will need to create source/target pairs.
In VV click on "Multiple Folders" (bottom-left) and start adding source/target pairs.
For instance if you need to sync files on:
a:\source\folder\a
a:\source\folder\b
a:\source\folder\c
with
b:\target\a
b:\target\folder\anotherfolder\b
b:\target\folder\k
you will need to setup a profile with the following pairs:
a:\source\folder\a <=> b:\target\a
a:\source\folder\b <=> b:\target\folder\anotherfolder\b
a:\source\folder\c <=> b:\target\folder\k _________________ --

Hi
are all files in
a:\source\folder\a
a:\source\folder\b
a:\source\folder\c
in the folder
b:\target\folder\k
or also in subfolders of b:\target\folder\k ? _________________ --

Prefer one folder. This is a great way to access major files while maintaining organizatiIon. This is the way I'm using MS Offline files. it doesn't appear I can use the snyc function this way I thing I have to use replicate; switching source/target. Thank you |

Hello
if you sync files, all folders
a:\source\folder\a
a:\source\folder\b
a:\source\folder\c
and
b:\target\folder\k
will end up with the same files.
you could replicate (Refresh), but you need to do that in both directions, so with two profiles.
a:\source\folder\a <-> b:\target\folder\k
a:\source\folder\b <-> b:\target\folder\k
a:\source\folder\c <-> b:\target\folder\k
Problem is that if you add new files they won't be copied with the Refresh method. I think the only way to do this is to also have subfolders in k
a:\source\folder\a <-> b:\target\folder\k\a
a:\source\folder\b <-> b:\target\folder\k\b
a:\source\folder\c <-> b:\target\folder\k\c
and use the synchronization method _________________ --
