I am attempting to set up Vice Versa to back up (mirror) a file on my C:\ drive to targets X:\ and Y:\. In addition to also back up my W:\ drive to drives X:\ and Y:\. My initial settings were as follows:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ <to> X:\
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ <to> Y:\
W:\ <to> X:\
W:\ <to> Y:\

Each time I ran these, the program would erase everything (all the existing data on the Sources and Targets) and start all over again, taking 3-4 days to complete, which is unacceptable. I contacted Vice Versa Support who advised me to keep the C:\ strings the same but change the W:\ strings to W:\ <to> X:\W\ and X:\ to Y:\W\. The program wouldn't recognize the new X strings and wouldn't run!

What do I need to run to make the program work so that it only copies and erases new changes from the Sources to the Targets without erasing and copying the data already existing on the Sources and Targets. Thank You.

Hi,

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ <to> X:\
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ <to> Y:\
W:\ <to> X:\
W:\ <to> Y:\

both C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ and W:\ are going to X:\

Try:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ <to> X:\pictures-Ircat\
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ <to> Y:\pictures-Ircat\
W:\ <to> X:\W\
W:\ <to> Y:\ W\

On two prior occasions I've contacted Support requesting how to properly set up a backup string. Please see the related messages. Each time I've tried your advice and each time the Vice Versa Program rejects the suggested fixes. In the first case it rejected the advice to change the target from W:\ <to> X:\ to W:\ <to> X:\W\ stating the suggested file could not be found. In the second case, when I brought this to the attention of Support, it was suggested that I change C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ <to> X:\ to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ <to> X:\pictures-Ircat. Once again, the program rejected the suggested fix saying that X:\pictures-Ircat\ could not be found. This has cost me hours and days of lost time and has placed my photos on the master drive at risk. Could you please look into this situation and come up with a solution that works. I can be reached at 518-321-0531. I can solve the problem, I believe, by just copying the data on C:/ drive to my master drive W:\ but that would slow Lightroom photo processing down and is not recommended by Adobe. It would seem to me that before a suggestion for a change is made that the technical staff would test run the suggestion.

Hi, sorry for the misunderstanding, if you use :

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ <to> X:\pictures-Ircat\
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\pictures-Ircat\ <to> Y:\pictures-Ircat\
W:\ <to> X:\W\
W:\ <to> Y:\ W\

make sure to create the folders:

X:\pictures-Ircat\
Y:\pictures-Ircat\
X:\W\
Y:\ W\

first or enable the option Create sources/targets folders if they do not exist in profile settings -> folders in ViceVersa.
