I am trying to back up files from my PC (mapped local drive W:\) to a shared folder on my Synology DS1815+.
Windows native file copy is off.
Could this be a permissions issue?

Hi, does it work if you enable the option:
Copy directly to destination file (do not use a temporary file)

'copy directly' seems to work without issues. Strange

It seems there is an issue with renaming the temp file on the NAS during the copy...

So it seems. Any idea what could be reason for this?
When I was using EXT4 on the NAS, I did not have the issue. Now I am using BTRFS

Can you manually create

\\?\UNC\192.168.0.10\music_other\Musik von David\1312\Classical\Dvorák\String Quartets Op.61 & 96 American (Calliope) - Quatuor Talich\~vv1.tmp

with some text in it, and then rename it into:

\\?\UNC\192.168.0.10\music_other\Musik von David\1312\Classical\Dvorák\String Quartets Op.61 & 96 American (Calliope) - Quatuor Talich\04-String Quartet No.12 in F, O.flac

With and without \\?\UNC\ prefix, it could be an issue with \\?\UNC\ ?

Interesting result: I created two target directories on the PC and on the NAS. I then copied the files with VV, getting the same error messages as before:

I then clicked 'continue and ignore all errors'. After the process ran through with several error messages I went to the NAS and lo and behold, the files were there. Not any temp files, but the flacs

On my second NAS (DS1910+, also BTRFS), the error does not occur.

Could it be an issue with the NAS firmware for the NAS which has the issue?

The issue is only on one NAS and only in one shared folder. I have deleted and recreated the shared folder. The issue persists.
We are unlikely to find the cause for this issue. I will simply use 'copy without temp file' for this folder going forward. Luckily is a folder I don't sync often.
