I'm getting ready to setup a backup from one of our servers to another. We're having a weird issue and I'd like some opinions on it.
Server1 is our Documentation server. It's the only server anyone in our company knows about. Everyone has access to it so it gets changed FREQUENTLY. We want to back that up to Server2 every time there is a change on Server1. We ran a compare Friday afternoon and here's where it gets weird.
We ran a compare from Server1 (source) to Server2 (target) and found 245,385 files on Server1. We then ran a compare from Server2 STILL calling Server2 the target server. It found 245,475 files on Server1.
So, Server2 found more files on Server1 than Server1 found on itself. I find that to be VERY odd behavior. Has anyone else experienced this kind of behavior? |

Hi, it could be due to long paths which are inaccessible without using \\?\
https://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item31.htm
If not, then, try to compare source and target and in the ViceVersa side-by-side comparison windows, check if there are excluded files.
ViceVersa also will log a status summary with matching files, etc.
Also you could save source and/or target to CSV and then compare the two CSV files for difference, using Visual Studio code for example. _________________ --
