VV "Mirror" Rebuilds Target After Some Deletions.

This question possibly arises from my lack of experience with V V (still using the trial) so bear with me on this. I am using V V "Mirror" method to create a large folder backup. Once this completed I then discovered a bunch of unneeded files in the Source so deleted them. I then ran "Compare and Execute". As expected, the files deleted in the Source were deleted in the Target but V V then automatically commenced a complete rebuild of the Target, which will take hours. I don't understand why this is happening as it seems unnecessary. Shouldn't it just perform the deletions and leave it at that?
