|
|
First posting here as I'm currently evaluating ViceVersa against my existing software for synchronisation which I'm thinking to change.
I like ViceVersa's features overall, but I have one question for which I didn't find an answer on the website. Does ViceVersa use Delta Copy or block level data transfers to minimize the volume of data being copied when synchronization takes place? |

Hi!
Thank you for you interest in ViceVersa.

No, ViceVersa does not use Delta Copy or block level file transfers, if a file changes, then the whole file is copied. Implementing block level would require a module to be installed on the receiving size, and ViceVersa right now installs on one side only. Something we might add in the future.
However, changes within a directory a detected and just that file is copied or deleted, see: https://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item108.htm
We are also working on the new version which will include many improvements in terms of speed over low-latency networks during the comparison phase. _________________ --

Thank you for the information. After some further consideration, Delta Copy or block level file transfers would not be so important for me anyway.
I have a few more days before the license on my current software will expire and by then I'll decide what to do. |
