Dear ViceVersa team,

I am a happy registered user since April. ViceVersa works fine every night to backup new files to my NAS. However, despite my careful profile definition, I noticed in the log that some cache folders were copied:

2021-05-19 04:52:59 : Copying file C:\Users\<username>\Documents\thunderbird\profile\cache2\entries\01CBFB9AF886F313DBC5FE4A21FBFEDD984D36C5 <to> \\iagoNAS\backups\IAGOPC4\thunderbird\profile\cache2\entries\01CBFB9AF886F313DBC5FE4A21FBFEDD984D36C5 (11,12KB) (Overwriting) ... [OK].

Can you tell what I did wrong?

Folders
- Source: "C:\Users\<username>\"
- Target: "\\iagoNAS\backups\<computer>\" (Archived)
- Include Subfolders: Yes
[… some excluded files like tmp, bak, log]
- Include subfolders: "\AppData\"
- Include subfolders: "\Documents\"
- Exclude subfolders: "*cache*"
[… some excluded folders but NO includes]

Thanks

Philippe Noth

Hi, I think it might be because cache2 does not have any characters before cache and does not match *cache*, however, I think it might be incorrect in ViceVersa.

Thanks, I will try to change to cache* and see what happens tonight. Since I use Thunderbird for e-mails, files in this cache get copied every night.

However, the idea was to exclude any cache-related folder. For example, I installed a new software recently, and its cache is named \.RenderCache\. I hoped *cache* would catch them all.

Hi, we are checking this in the source code, because I believe * should mean "zero, one or more characters". In the meantime, please add 3 exclude filters: *cache*, cache*, *cache to test. I will let you know what we find out. thanks

Actually , it should be all good and *cache* will exclude all subfolders contain the "cache" text in the name. So it will exclude "cache", "1cache", "cache2", etc
