When doing a mirror source to target synchronization of music files (mp3, FLAC, AAC) I found a large number of source files (a few hundred) with a changed timestamp although I had made no changes to the files and the files had not been played for a long time before the changed timestamp date.

I am posting about this here because the source timestamp date and time in ViceVersa is identical for all the affected files and it happens to be the same date as the last ViceVersa synchronization.

The "modified" date and time in Windows properties is identical to the ViceVersa timestamp.

It seems too much of a coincidence that the hundreds of affected files all have the same timestamp date and time and that is the same as the last ViceVersa synchronization.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I will appreciate any insights offered.

System is fully updated Windows 10 Pro for Workstation running ViceVersa 2.5 Build 2508

Hi, are you referring to the source files being copied from or the target files being copied to? thanks

The files with the identical changed timestamp are the source files.

I discovered the issue when I ran ViceVersa today to do a backup synchronization and hundreds of source files had changed timestamps. Almost 400 files.

The changed timestamp DATE is identical for all those files. The timestamp TIME varies slightly from 16:47:18 to 16:50:02 (previously I wrote the timestamp is identical).

The new timestamp is the date of the previous backup synchonization (10 days ago).

None of those files had been altered by me or played in the last 10 days (all are music files).

Thanks, are these the modified timestamp, created or accessed?
ViceVersa does not change any timestamp for files that are being copied from.

I'm just trying to find out how this happened.

Somehow the modified date and time were changed for nearly 400 files.

All those files have the same new modified date and similar modified time. It was the date and time that the previous ViceVersa backup was performed.

Created date and time not changed.

That is what I know. How it happened I don't know.

Is there another program like an antivirus that could cause this?
PS the version of ViceVersa you are using is a bit old, but ViceVersa never changed origin files timestamps.
