I am using ViceVersa Pro 2.5 Build 2519 64-bit on Windows 10. I seem to have discovered a bug in the program.
I ran into the problem while backing up C:\Users\ and its subfolders. My profile specifies "No empty source/target check" and to exclude all "desktop.ini" files.
If a source folder is completely empty the program includes it and copies it to the target. However, if the source folder only has a "desktop.ini" file and no subfolders, the program marks both the file and the folder as excluded and does not copy the folder to the target. When I added a file to one of those folders, the folder was included, which means the problem is not improper use of includes and excludes.
This also occurs if I run the program as administrator.
Here is my profile:
Folders
- Source: "C:\"
- Target: "S:\Asus R518 C\" (Archived)
- Include Subfolders: Yes
- Exclude files: "\\?\C:\*"
- Exclude files: "ntuser.*"
- Exclude files: "desktop.ini"
- Exclude subfolders: "\\?\C:\*\"
- Include subfolders: "\\?\C:\TaxAct\"
- Include subfolders: "\\?\C:\Users\"
- Exclude subfolders: "\\?\C:\Users\*\Appdata\"
- Exclude subfolders: "\\?\C:\Users\Craig\OneDrive\"
Comparison
- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
Execution
- Method: Backup (Mirror Source to Target)
- No archive for deleted/replaced source files
- Archive deleted/replaced target files to: "\\?\S:\_Archive\ASUS R518 C\"
- Move files to archive folders (instead of copying)
- Archive max. 3 copies per file
- Copy files even if timestamp changes after initial comparison
- Try to copy files that are in use by other applications and if not possible skip them
- No empty source/target check
- Retain folder created and modified timestamps when copying
- Preserve last accessed timestamp of files being copied |

Because I am using Backup (Mirror Source to Target}, the folder was included in the source and "No empty source/target check" was specified, the source folder should be included in the target even when all files in the source folder are excluded. |
