I am using VVPro2 to synch files back to a corporate server via VPN. The client PC runs Cisco VPN Client 4.8 for Windows and connects to a Cisco VPN concentrator. It runs flawlessly until I schedule a synch.

I have scheduled a synch every hour, every two hours and every four hours and every time the synch begins the VPN connection drops.

The PC has the latest versions of VV, VPN and XP Pro is patched to the most current level.

I checked the forums and didn't find anything related.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does this happen only with ViceVersa or also trrying to copy many files with Windows Explorer for instance?

Only in VV. And the number of changes is usually pretty low. We're not synching dozens or hundreds each time, just a handful and they are all small documents... Word & Excel mostly.

If you are not already using the latest VV PRO 2 build (2010), can you try that? There was a change in the way VV connects to the network that could be solving this... You can download the latest build from the home page, thanks.

I thought the software was up to date, but I was mistaken. However, I did do the update and the problem still exists.

I appreciate your efforts. I know this is a difficult problem.

At which point exactly does the VPN connection drop? (you can see that from the log file - setup a log file in the profile settings) thanks

It seems to happen immediately. As soon as the program runs the connection is dropped.

Can you try using a UNC path such as \\server\share\ instead of the H:\ drive letter ?

Tried that... no joy. I switched to MS-VPN client and the problem seems to be gone so I guess it's an issue with VV and Cisco.

I'll stick with MS-VPN util the next rev of Cisco comes out and see what happens.

Thanks.
