I have set up several tasks to run in VV Scheduler. Some tasks copy local data out to a server every night. Other tasks only run once or twice a week and should make backups from the server. Any task that tries to copy from the server to the local drive will fail to run automatically with this error:
The operator or administrator has refused the request (0x800710e0)

This is set up on a non administrator account. I found information on how to add permissions to run vvschedule.exe on the non admin account. That didn't make a difference.

There must be somewhere else to set the permissions.

I really need this to run without futzing with it all the time. Can you please help?

Thanks,
Kirk

Hi, does this error appear without the profile even running? i.e. is it a Windows scheduler issue and the profile log in ViceVersa does not show ViceVersa running?

Is the account running the tasks that fail different from the account which is successful?

thanks

The error appears in the list of tasks in VVScheduler when I check to see which tasks have successfully ran or not.

Don't know anything about Windows Scheduler. Never used it, don't know how to use it.

The only thing different that I can see between the tasks that run reliably and the ones that don't is that tasks Computer --> Server always run and tasks Server --> Computer never run.

OK, very very irritating. I spent an hour doing a bunch of screen captures of what is going on and there is no way to upload, embed them or link to them. ERRRR!

Every time I open VVScheduler, I receive this dialog. I have set all the permissions but it still comes up.

******** Can't link to graphic ??? ********

The permissions are set for all users on this computer to be able to access wwscheduler.exe and those permissions are inherited by "Store" user which is the current user.
******** Can't link to graphic ??? ********

When I look a the task list in vvshcheduler for recent tasks this is what it looks like:
******** Can't link to graphic ??? ********

If I try to view the log by clicking on "View Log Profile", I get a message that says "A log file was not set for this profile."
******** Can't link to graphic ??? ********

But that is not true. I have enabled the log profile on all the problematic tasks....
******** Can't link to graphic ??? ********

Hope this is enough information to help solve this issue. Smile Thanks

I think I got it figured out. The tasks that weren't running were ones that I had never gotten to run successfully from the vvscheduler. I had tried to force them to run on the admin account by using the admin username and password. They would run manually, but not automatically.

When I changed the permissions on the vvscheduler, then it would probably have run under the user account, but it still had the credentials for the admin account. I have been changing those over to the user account and so far, the tests look like that is working.

I need to verify that this is all working, but it looks promising.

Thanks,
Kirk

Not sure if I should reopen this or start a new one.

This problem has not gone away, but I have verified that it only crops up on Windows 10 machines, and only ones that are fully updated, and on ones that are running not in administrator accounts.

I sent this last week and haven't heard back. At this point. I can't get scheduled updates to work on any Windows 10 computer. I was going to get some more licenses because I have added some computers. If I can't get the ones I have working, I am going to need to find a better solution that works. Thanks.

Hi Kirk, sorry for the delay, we are getting back to you asap. Also, check-out the VVEngine add-on if interested:

Frankly, I am not excited to download and buy more add ons. This all used to work, but now isn't. I would like to get this fixed.

Hello, was there any resolution to this issue? I'm experiencing the same thing on a Windows Server 2019 computer. Thanks

Hi, can you check if the previous task instance has terminated properly? Are there any ViceVersa.exe processes still running? thanks

Hmm...that actually might have been the case as last-night's backup job executed without any issues. I'll report back if it starts failing again and make sure to check the running processes. Thanks
