I'm currently evaluating VV as I need to move a network share between two 2012 R2 servers. The share consists of 16,000 subfolders with varying NTFS permissions, so I need these file and folder permissions to be replicated across.
I've enabled the 'Copy permissions, security attributes...' setting in my profile. Initially, I was getting an error 'Cannot read security descriptions..', but running VV as administrator resolved this. Now the copy runs without errors, but the new copy of the folder just has the default inherited permissions from its parent folder.
Am I doing something wrong? |

Hi,
- Are you using the latest version 3.0?
- Do the root source and target folders have the same permissions to start with?
- The options: Recheck file/folder security during comparison is enabled?
