I'm trying to use the "Move to Target. For Replication (Update Target) method only." and it keeps deleting folders in my source.
My scenario:
My source is a duplicate of the folder structure of my target, minus the files. An application is placing files in various source folders and I have a vvengine job watching for file changes to hopefully move the file to the target as it comes in. HOWEVER, my issue is that when I turn on the "move' feature (rather than just do an "augment" job), the first time the job runs, it moves any files that are new (good) but also deletes the folders in my source (bad). My application then fails because the path it was writing to has now disappeared.
How can I setup the job so that it leaves the folders alone but moves the files as they come into the source folder structure?
EDIT: Another issue just came up - when doing the "augment" option in my scenario, I'm ending up with duplicate files. Here's how: The job moves a file from the source to the target. The target is where my users or other applications interact with the files. They may move or delete the file in the target. When my Full Re-comparison runs, it puts another copy of the file back to target. I understand why but this is not OK. I either need the "move" to work so there will be no file left in the source or I need a way to only copy the file once to the target, no matter what happens to the file afterwards.
Thanks,

Hi, re not moving just the folder structure, you could place a dummy file in each subfolder and exclude that file (by name). Then the folders are not removed because not empty.
The move once functionality will be added to next release using the archive attribute but it is not available yet.

Similar to an issue I had here :
Code: | https://www.tgrmn.com/web/forum/viewtopict5746&highlight=.htm |
and resolved, with your advice, by copying a 'Placeholder' file to each folder then excluding the file from the Move operation to stop the 'parent' folder being deleted. |
