Hello,

I'm trying out Vice Versa, just setting it up. I basically want to synchronize files between local folders and my Dropbox account.

Is this supported? No success at the GUI level and have been going thru VV's doc with no success :-/

Thanks in advance,

Hi, no Dropbox is not supported directly, however you could replicate / sync vs the local dropbox folder:

Once installed, the Dropbox app creates a Dropbox folder on your computer. This folder works just like any other folder, but with a few important differences:

Changes you make to files in the Dropbox folder are automatically backed up to Dropbox
Changes you make here also sync to the Dropbox accounts of people you have shared the files with
You can access files and folders that others have shared with you

So you could sync / replicate vs this local folder with ViceVersa.

Hi, this is what I'm trying to do for my small business online backup (I have dropbox and onedrive accounts) Both once installed have dedicated folder which synchronise once online. On the other hand I use VVPro to synch between my local dedicated data drive and the onedrive and dropbox folders.

What I have found is this : Each time I do a synch with VVpro there are a number of files that will not sych properly. (very simple files like word documents etc.) Sometime VVpro get stuck on certain files which are identicals (same kb, same time stamp etc.) yet they are listed as different files between the source and target.

When I check the backup from online, I see gobs of folders and files which are not available online, yet are included in the local folder (probably a dropbox/onedrive issue)

I'm kind of desesperate as I'm a die hard fan of VVPro which I have used for decades for HDD local backups with great success. Yet this online thing with dropbox/onedrive doesn't seem to work out so well.

I will try with another online backup solution from my ISP, while still trying to keep VVP as the backup tool.

Hi, are these OneDrive or DropBox issues? We use ViceVersa PRO vs the local OneDrive folder with no issues.

Hi, that's what I'm trying to sort out. One thing I noticed today : I changed the backup profile and unchecked all 4 "exclude system files, hidden files etc.) AFter that I had run the sync again and just by magic the missing 11'000 plus files that were missing between my local G data drive and the dropbox/onedrive folder did synchronise. So that is why I was missing all these files, despite I don't really understand if they were "hidden files" "system files etc." To me they were just regular data files.

But I still get stuck to about 4 folders which cannot be accessed during sync, and two files inside each folder that will not sync. (It is listed as "alone" in the VVPro windows. There are many other files in these 4 folders that get to sync so the error message about folder not beeing accessible seems strange.

I have taliked to my ISP today and the online backup solution they propose requires a backup tool that has the SWIFT protocol working. Does VVPro has that feature ? Thanks

Which type of files were these?

Regarding the inaccssible folders please check the profile log (profile settings -> execution). It will list them. You might need to run VV as full admin if you are not doint that already?

thanks
