|
|
Hello,
I run a series of Profiles in a Batch (in a .bat) and they all direct log info to a common log file. I use a common file to make it easier to scan the log for errors.
The only way I can find to view the Log file from VV (and therefore get the color highlighting) is to 1st Run a Compare on ony one of the Profiles and from the resulting Compare window select View | Log File. This 1) requires a few unneeded steps and 2) adds the Compare data to the log.
Is there a way to directly access the Log from VV?
Thank you.

You can view the log file without opening the Comparison window:
- Open the ViceVersa profile settings and where you setup the log file (execution section) select view from the menu.
- I think the best in your case is to use the VVLogViewer directly (VVLogViewer is the program that does the coloring). This tool is under "Start"->"All Programs"->"ViceVersa PRO 2"->"Tools" _________________ --

Hello,
Thanks for the quick reply. I tried your suggetion:
Open the ViceVersa profile settings and where you setup the log file (execution section) select view from the menu.
but I cannot locate any menu in the Execution portion of the ProfileSettings. Here's what I did:
1) Run VV
2) Load a Profile
3) Click on Change Profile Settings
4) Select "Execution" from "tree" on the left side of the Window.
Selecting "Execution" show the page where I indicated that I wanted a log and where I specified the log file name and max file size. This page also shows the Backup Method and whether or not I want a Tracking database. Is this the right location? If so, there is no menu anywhere in sight.
Thank you.

next to where you enter the log file name, there is a button with a small arrow ... click on the arrow and a menu will open where you can select view _________________ --

OK, thanks! (I was looking for the traditional "menubar" type of menu).
Now I can use that or the Viewer tool you also recommended.
Thank you.
