Recycle bin is always backed up no matter what I do with exclusion

I've got this as a excluded file *$RECYCLE.BIN*

As there is a recycle bin on each drive that is being backed up, but I would like to exclude these from back up as it takes forever to do the backup.

Where am I going wrong? How can I exclude the recycle bin

thanks

Hello,
try excluding D:\$recycle.bin\ where D:\ is the drive with an exclude subfolder filter.

Thanks for the fast response. I tried what you said and this is the response:

File Filter "D:\$recycle.bin\" does not apply to neither source or target folder(s)

However the path is correct as when I put it into the address bar or Windows > Run it does open the path. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Hi, what are your source and target?
You will need to use a subfolder filter instead of file filter.

OK, have moved the filter to sub-folder rather than file filter as suggested. That seems appropriate.

However when I browse for the recycle bin folder and select it I get a similar error when I run the backup.

Subfolder Filter "D:\$RECYCLE.BIN\" does not apply to neither source or target folder(s)

In answer to your quest this is what I am backing up.

\\?\D:\ <to> \\?\S:\D Drive Backup\
and
\\?\E:\ <to> \\?\S:\E Drive Backup\

Please can you help me exclude the recycle bins

thanks
