I'm using the demo version of ViceVersa to sync up about 230+ GB of compressed data. Mostly CD Images, MP3's, etc...
The problem I am noticeing is that ViceVersa is much slower than using Windows Explorer in plain raw speed. If I do a file copy using Windows Explorer it uses about 85-88% of my 100Mbit network connection.
On the other hand, ViceVersa only used about 30-35%. Obviously this increases the time to do a backup by almost 3 fold. I've varified that ViceVersa is set at 100% speed in the GUI.
Any hints or tips? |

Hello
Try to optimize the copy speed by increasing the buffer size in the advanced sync project settings. What type of files are you mostly copying, large files or small files. _________________ --

I am mostly backing up CD-Images and MP3's. So the files range from 3 MB on up to several GB in size.
I don't see the option you mentioned for a buffer. Can you walk me through finding it?
Thanks |

In the ViceVersa PRO project settings, click on the Synchronization tab and then on the additional sync options (advanced). There you have the "copy buffer size" setting. _________________ --

So then I am stuck with rather slow data transfer speeds?
There really isn't any explicable reason for VV to be transfering data so slowly. Plain old Windows Explorer handily whips it's butt in transfer speed by a factor of almost 3. |
