I have a single server and a desktop computer on a domain based network and are trying to connect from that computer to the server's VVEngine's web page.
I have first set the server's Allowed IPs to * as suggested on the setting tab. I tried to connect to the server using <Server IP>:8001 but it fails to connect saying the web page is not available.
Then I tried to specify the remote computers IP only in the Allowed IPs setting but it still fails with the same message.
Then I got your KB article 07. Can I Connect to VVEngine from a Remote Computer? https://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item54.htm but can't seem to get the remote connection going or figure out what I might be doing wrong.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The server is 2012 R2 and the windows is 10 with all updates.
This may be a firewall issue I guess. When I run VVEngine on the desktop, I can access it from both the server and other desktops. It seems to be just the server's VVEngine that is out of reach.
Problem solved:
On the server go to the Firewall settings, and manually add Allowed App and browse for VVEngine.exe under the installation folder and add it. Then open the firewall for domain/private/public as required.
Sometimes you need to put your problem on paper so you can face it and the answer will stare you in the face of you look properly. |
