Hello,
I have been a registered user of ViceVersa Pro for a couple of years now. One thing I have always noticed is that many times, a single Execute will not perform the complete Mirror backup. I have to run it a second and, sometimes, a third time.
Yesterday I purchased a new dedicated 6TB internal backup drive for my office computer which consists of two 3TB internal drive + c: drive.
I have created a new profile to run this backup. Running it the first time, it seemed quite random on what it backed up. But it did create all the directories and sub-directories in the backup location. I ran it a second time, and still did not complete. Even though the dialogue says it is completed. I am now on my third run.
Why is it not backing up in one run? As i said earlier, it is not specific to this new drive or profile, as I have experienced it previously many times. |

Hi, do you have errors shown that files can't be copied etc? If you enable the profile log (profile settings -> execution) we will be able to review it for issues. thanks _________________ --

Hello,
Thank you for the reply.
I have a log. Viewing the log, there are no errors (of course you are a better judge of that). Each of the skipped directories just ends with [OK]
I can send the file but, as these predominately business files, they are sensitive, so did not want to paste publicly. Can I send in a more discrete manner?
Or would you prefer I extract sections, redact and paste to pastebin? |

I have just checked the log.
Unfortunately I must have set the log file size limit too low. All the skipped directories from the first and second run have now been overwritten by this third pass that is actually copying all the skipped files. |

Will do. It actually took 4 runs to backup my two drives today. Funnily each time it completes, I get the stats box telling me it is all done. I run it again, and there is more to backup...
I have set my file limit to zero, so I should be able to catch from now on.
Thank you. |

I figured out what was causing the multiple runs to backup completely.
In the Comparison Screen, if you collapse any of the folders, then the backup will not occur for that collapsed tree. It ended up being a Catch 22 situation where the more it wasn't backing up correctly, the more I was looking through all the items queued for backup and collapsing folders as I went along. In the image link below, the three collapsed folders will not backup, even though there are items in there that are marked for backup.
I was not aware of this function, nor do I recall reading about it. Apart from that mis-step, the software works great
ah... no external links allowed. Sorry, can't post the image. |

Hi, yes, when working in the ViceVersa comparison window only currently visible files are considered for execution. _________________ --
