& Ampersand dropped from file copy target + error

I am having a problem where the target path has a share/folder with an ampersand in it.


Source path:
\\?\UNC\data\Laboratory\R&D\

For example, if my target path is:
\\?\UNC\Laboratory\R&D\
or
\\laboratory\R&D\

i get the following error message on file copy:
"Could not create "\\laboratory\RD\.........". Folder "\\laboratory\" could not be created. The specified path is invalid.

Looks like it dropped the & from the target path....... any suggestions?

So i manually recreated one subfolder on the target, and I could copy a file.

If i tried to copy a \sub\subfolder\, it would not.



Essentially, VV will not create any folder underneath the folder with the & ampersand in its foldername. Help!

the logs are above, i have double checked the storage, the share and the folder/file security for the folders that wont copy

the screenshot shows in the error msg popup where the path has dropped the '&' from R&D to RD . Not sure if you just cant have & in the msg box text field or if the program is really having an issue creating files and folders underneath a folder path that includes an & ? The wierd thing is, if i manually create the folder or sub folder on the target, then VV will copy any files in the created folder path. Its like it can't handle the & in creating subfolders...

i tried native windows copy option too, same results. its \\laboratory is a dns delegation to a smartconnect zone on an Isilon cluster. \R&D is a smb share attached to that DNS. I have moved petabytes this way, and have incurred this problem before. I think i ended up ditching the & from the last time i had this pop up. Unfortunately, it is not really an option for me to get rid of the & from the share name this time...
