We are using vv pro server vss to sync volumes. We have like 100+ relative symlinks there for better data organization. vv completely ignores them. Is there an option to NOT ignore them but include in comparison? |

I don't know the up-to-date answer, but the question was put fairly recently here :

could be of interest
I'm not too familiar with Symbolic Links, as we use DFS Namespace instead. |

Thank you Alice, for DFS Namespaces hint.
ViceVersa does completely ignore all link types as indicated several times on this forum. It unclear however how it distinguish hardlinks as they are equal - there no link-target relationship there. All hardlinks are considered as links to the actual file.
As for me I would need VV to treat symlinks to files/folders (not hardlinks, not junctions) as just a normal files without trying to resolve them.
There is such option in other tools - like Far Manager or xcopy /b. |

Hi, but when copying a symbolic link, ViceVersa would need to be able to change the target of the link? If you have symbolic link A pointing to B. And just copying A (not actually B), would the copy of A still point to B which might not be in the copied location? _________________ --

Hello, a lot of ways to unroll/process links are possible; some are listed at schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html#hardlinkclones
I would like to have an option to copy _relative_ symlinks as is, without any target modification. This applies to both folder are file symlinks. As links are relative they still stay valid on the destination. |
