|
|
I have been trialing VV Pro 2.5 Build 2518 & VVEngine 2.1 Build 2106 and I haven't been able to find a restore feature. I have seen the archive viewer but I don't yet have any archives and the viewer doesn't see the current (non-archived) backed up target files and doesn't seem to provide anything beyond a list - no commands that I can see. Maybe right clicking will do something when the archive is populated? But that doesn't address doing a restore that is a combination of backed up files (non-archived) and archived files.
Is it possible that there is no restore feature or have I just been unable to find it? I am talking about a way to select, in various ways, the files to be restored, specifically back to a certain date, along the lines of the Mac's TimeMachine but possibly with more options. I guess I am looking for versioning backup and restore capability.
I like VV2.5's ability to restore individual files without the need for such a feature but would find a flexible restore function very useful. |

Hi, from the archive folders only a group of files can be restored using the archive viewer (right click and copy). There is no way to do a global restore from the archive based on date, however, it is a feature that we plan to add as it would be quite useful. It would not be too difficult to implement. Basically the ability to restore all files from the archive based on a particular date and merge them into source / target / or 3rd folder. _________________ --

But the archive viewer doesn't even show the regular backed up files - apparently only the archive - which is still empty in my case so no files show up. This seems a bit strange. Please explain. Thanks.

PS Why do I have to click on submit multiple times before my reply actually gets process? |

The archive folders are populated with files only when ViceVersa deletes / overwrites files from the source and/or the target (depending if you have enabled archive for source and/or target). _________________ --

I have used VV to backup all of my PC drives. I am very pleased with the mirror feature and the auto feature. It is configured w/o any compression. I store ALL of my data and media on separate drives from my multiple OS drives. I want to restore an OS drive but am unable (or unfamiliar with how do perform this function with VV). When VV copies files to the backup drive does it maintain all of the original attributes? If so how can I even restore files that are 'access denied' in the OS and being transferred to the backup? |

The files that indicated 'access denied' were those in the Win 10 OS. |
