This error is reported by Windows directly to ViceVersa.
This error happens when the system has encountered a communication problem while trying to read information from a drive or while trying to write data to a drive. The problem can be caused by faulty hardware or by file system issues.

Usually there's other evidence of these errors in the System Event Log as NTFS, FTDISK, and DISK errors.

It is recommended that you run CHKDSK /r on the drive that is experiencing the problem. If the error is on Read, it is the drive that is being copied. If the error is on Write, it will be the drive you are saving the files to.

NOTE: CHKDSK does not always find or repair these errors. Much of the time it is necessary to obtain a better diagnostic repair utility directly from the Hard Drive Manufacturer , e.g. Fujistu, Hitachi/IBM, Maxtor/Quantum/Seagate, Samsung, Western Digital/WD.

Every other copy utility that we use does not get an error. Only ViceVersa and there are no issues reported in the Event logs on either server.

These are VMs so it is a little hard to understand why I would be getting an Hardware error from a Virtual disk system that has about 50 other servers on it (VMWARE/SAN) with no other systems getting error messages from large file copies.

Hi, does it still give an error if you change the following profile settings:

Process Priority from Realtime to Idle
Use Windows native file copy -> disable
Speed: 100 (flush the buffer every write) -> Do not flush buffer every time

thanks

Is the error given for the source file or the target file?

\\...\924316\924316_HGVC_SeaWrld_Bldg6_7_8\Sub_Vdr\12_Sorensen\080316.pdf

I am unable to see the complete path, thanks

OK, does this happen for all files > 50MB in all locations? Please try to copy one of the files that do not copy from source to a different location in source and copy it from there. thanks

OK, thanks, please disable all these options:

Comparison
- Ignore 2 seconds difference
- Ignore any second difference
- Ignore 1 hour difference
Execution
- Use Windows native file copy (unbuffered)
- Copy files even if timestamp changes after initial comparison
- Retain folder created and modified timestamps when copying
- Copy files even if they have timestamp errors
- Include offline files

Plus set these option to default:
- Process Priority: Realtime --> Idle
- Speed: 100 (flush the buffer every write) --> do not flush the buffer every write

Please send log to support when it runs

thanks!

Has someone on your team been able to take a look at the error log we emailed?

We are still getting the error messages.

Is it safe to assume you are not going to give a solution to this issue or that you don't have an answer?
