|
|
I have around 20 sync profiles to sync different parts of my main HD with external drives and my laptops.
If I am not mistaken I need to add \\?\ to the pathnames in order to enable long pathnames support in these profiles. I also need to add the prefix in file and folder filters, otherwise I get an error message.
Is there a simpler way to do this? I was looking for a checkbox in the profile settings which would allow to enable long pathnames support for the profile in one go, but I could not find anything. |

Hi, long path support needs to be enabled with \\?\ in front of the paths, probably the easiest option is to open the profile files .fsf and find and replace (the .fsf files are just text files). _________________ --

Hi,
Changed from:
Source: C:\
Target: E:\ViceVersa\
to:
Source: \\?\c:\
Target: \\?\e:\ViceVersa\
In order to get backup copies of the large path/file names. This has created a new problem:
ViceVersa Pro stops running with:
"Can't execute this method. Target is locked. Check profile settings."
I have tried changing lots of combinations of profiles, file permissions, running ViceVersa "as administrator", etc. But ViceVersa always stops with the same error message.
If I go back to the original Source/Target combination, I suppose ViceVersa will run, but I won't get backups of some 10,000 large path/files.
System is Windows 8.1 Pro. Drive E:, external hdd.
Is there a web page with step by step instructions describing how to set this up?
Thanks. |

OK. Found solution here: The tiny "lock" icons.
I'll never know how they got locked.
Anyway VVPro is now making its backups, and including the files with long path/file names. |
