Hi,

i am using an external Tandberg RDX Drive with Cartridges. My question is: Is it possible to identify a certain RDX Cartridge via serial number or volume label name?

Following scenario:
1. I want to update a set of files on my daily cartridge with label "Daily". The appropriate profile named "Daily" should start when i manually load the cartridge.

2.Once a week on Sunday i want save a whole partition to a cartridge named "Weekly all files". The right profile should start when i load this cartridge named "Weekly".

Is this possible somehow?

Thanks very much!
Kind regards

Hi,

one can set two modes for this cartridges:

1. Fixed Disk (for use with windows backup
2. Removable disk (Default)

I have set it as removable disk and the cartridges appear as normal standard hard drives who can accessed with a drive letter. Changing the volume label is no problem.

Kind regards

OK, you can setup 2 profiles and add them to the VVEngine scheduler :
http://www.tgrmn.com/web/vvengine/vvengine.htm

In the target folders for the 2 profiles use the label of the disk, e.g.:

<label:XXXXXXXX>

This expands to the drive letter assigned to the drive with label XXXXXXXX. For example, <label:My-Usb-Drive>:\FolderA\ expands to S:\FolderA\ if the drive letter assigned to the drive with label 'My-Usb-Drive' is 'S'.

Please note: this variable can't be used with the tracking database or the synchronization method only backup or replication.

See ViceVersa help file for more info. thanks
