Hi,
Currently my situation is like this: I have 2 desktop computers and a wireless modem/router. I have a 2 TB WD MyCloud drive connected to the router, and this appears as a network drive on either of my PCs. I don't leave any of these devices running all the time - I turn them off at night.
I'm looking for realtime synchronization between the network drive and either of my PCs - so that I have exactly the same files on each PC. I'm never on both PCs at the same time, so the synchronization would always be between the network drive and a PC. I need the synchronization to be in realtime because my collection of files is quite large (250,000+ files - about 200 GB), and doing a full scan each time is becoming quite tedious and time consuming.
So far, I've tried a number of synchronization programs which do a kind of realtime sync in which the first time they run, they do a full scan (creating some kind of database), and then after this they claim to only detect files that have actually changed.
But what I've found with at least one of these programs, is that when I quit the program, or shutdown my PC and router/network drive and then power-up again, is that the program wants to do *another* full scan when I run it again. A full scan on my files can take a very long time.
I haven't tried ViceVersa just yet, but I was wondering if ViceVersa does things differently? If I quit the program, or restart my devices, will it require another full scan when I run it again?
Thanks. |
