I think it can work by installing on both sides:

See part II - method 2

So that changes are only monitored locally.

Is this configuration only possible with data stored on 2 locations ?
I need to have a configuration with more than 2 sites.

Say 5 sites which all need to have the same amount of data with 2-way real-time replication configured.

It support any number of locations.

Say you have A, B, C, D and E.

Install VV and VVEngine on each.

Sync B to A from B (one way)
Sync C to A from C (one way)
Sync D to A from D (one way)
Sync E to A from E (one way)

On A you have 4 separate profiles, syncing:
Sync A to B from A (one way)
Sync A to C from A (one way)
Sync A to D from A (one way)
Sync A to E from A (one way)
