Hi,
As a user of your product since the early years of your Internet sales efforts, I continue to try to establish a consistent set of implementation processes that meet my needs.
But I notice that your site does not make explicit comparisons between VVEngine and ViceVersa Pro Server.
Usually this means that a manufacturer knows that the two are purposed differently but does not realize that the distinction must also be made clear in their marketing.
The increase of pricing of ViseVersa Pro Server over VVEngine suggests that the functionality and features of VVEngine are included in ViceVersa Pro Server. But again, that has not been explicitly made clear in your marketing.
So, would you please explain the usage relationship between ViceVersa Pro Server, VVEngine, and Vice Versa Pro User versions? How would I use combinations of these together?
If I purchased VV Pro Server and VV Pro User, would I have all the functionality I could possibly have for User/Server use cases? In that case, would I need VVEngine?
In what cases would i want to purchase VVEngine on the server? And what would then be the usage environment between the User and Server systems? If I purchased VV Pro Server, would I need another VV instance on each machine I am sharing data with?
Realistically, I believe the answers to these questions should be the focus of your website message: this info is fundamental to a customers purchase decisions, and feature lists and feature explanations are essential and helpful, but not sufficient on their own. Making a nomenclature distinction between VV 'Client' and VV 'Server' would probably help.
In any case, I need to understand your strategy for the interactions among the various versions of your product in order to make a purchasing decision this week.
Thanks,
Kimball Johnson |

Hi Kimball,
VVEngine is an add-on for ViceVersa. You cannot have VVEngine without ViceVersa. It's optional and it's an additional cost.
So you can have ViceVersa or ViceVersa + VVEngine.
Here are the features that VVEngine adds to ViceVersa:

Once you know if you want ViceVersa or ViceVersa + VVEngine you can decide if you need the server or non-server license/version. If you install on servers you will need the server license otherwise the non-server.

Thanks for the partial answer.
Again, no overall picture.
If I purchased VV Pro Server and VV Pro User, would I have all the functionality I could possibly have for User/Server use cases?
If I purchased VV Pro Server, would I need another VV instance on each machine I am sharing data with?
What combination do you recommend for a group who need to manage files among several desk/lap/tops and concrete and virtual servers?
I understand that VV and VV Server have overlaps in functionality, but what kinds of interactions did you have in mind between them. If the answer is none, could you please confirm that?
Would you mind terribly giving me a complete answer?
Thanks,
Kimball Johnson |

Hi,
There is no interaction between client and server versions, it's just that one version is for servers and the other one for non-server.

yes, you will need 1 license for each server.

You would need ViceVersa non-server for every laptop / desktop/ etc. and ViceVersa server for every server.
ViceVersa is not a client/server software , that is , there are no two modules that interact. ViceVersa runs as one software , on server or on clients.
I hope I was clear but if you have any more questions do not hesitate to reply and I will try to answer them, thank you _________________ --

Yes, that is very clear, thank you.
Still, just an idea, a couple diagrams on your site that depicted the way you have designed the products to work when installed would probably sell a few more copies.
thanks again,
