|
|
Hi all
I'm a new user, currently playing with the Trial version.
I've had a task I'd like to be a LOT more automated than it is now, which is completely manual
I've looked long and hard through these forums, I couldn't find a solution, so apologies if answered elsewhere. (it's HUGE)
Scenario
I maintain a decent sized media collection, and as such am required to keep my other family members collections up to-date when I visit <groan>
What I want to do is, from a particular date I set, I only want to copy new folders added to that directory and all their contents to an external USB drive ignoring all other folders that existed before that date (1000+)
I tried excluding directories but that has a 250 hard limit (why?)
I tried doing it with file dates but my collection gets updated with new metadata in quite old folders which then triggers a copy of that file.
Can this be done?
So when I am then next invited for dinner, I will trundle off, USB Drive in hand and then reset the date to that day and start all over again in preparation for the next visit.
Thanks in advance for any assistance. |

Hi, it should be possible to do using file filters, based on date / time.
You mentioned that your collection gets updated with new metadata in quite old folders which then triggers a copy of that file. Is this a specific file name that can be excluded regardless of timestamp?

Hi, thanks for the response.
The changes would mainly be updating of metadata inside movie.xml which of course changes the modified date value.
Or it could be the addition of new artwork, which would all be jpg's or png's.
Excuse my ignorance, but if any of those files are excluded by extension, wouldn't that stop copying of new additions (movies) to the library that I do want to copy ?
I'm still learning how to drive this software
Cheers |

yes, actually you are right, if you exclude an extension it gets excluded for all subfolders. Not sure there's a solution for this.... just having also metadata copied for old folders is not an options? e.g. just use a date filter... _________________ --
