|
|
OS: Windows 2003 Enterprise Ed. SP1+
When running vvlaucher as a local account started service, every works fine. Apart from the fact the one can't access network drives...
I'm trying to run the VVLauncher server as predefined admin-user named "VVLaucher" in order to be able to map external shares, I get the error message "Missing parameter!" from the service-control-manager in the eventlogger.
The exact same setup on another identical server works fine. Why is this? Is there some Microsoft internal security thingy that must be concidered?
Please advice
With best regards

I have the same problem with VV Pro 2. I can not run the VVLauncher as a service from any other account other than Local System. We did not have this problem on our 2000 server, but when it was tested on the 2003 server, the error came up. Here is the error message that I get is:
Can not start VVLauncher on Local Computer
Error 87: The perameter is incorrect
Event Viewer has the same error message:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7023
Date: 3/7/2006
Time: 2:51:14 AM
User: N/A
Computer: 001
Description:
The VVLauncher service terminated with the following error:
The parameter is incorrect.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
If you know of a solution or a way around this problem, please post.
Thank you. |

Two questions:
When does this error happen exactly ?
Did you first installed VVlauncher under the local system account and then change the user credentials for the service in the Service Control Panel ?

Answer to question 1.
The error occurs when trying to start the service under a different user.
Answer to question 2.
I used the InstServ.exe tool to install the service. When the serive is first installed, it is setup to run as Local System. I then went into the Services snap-in and changed the log on as user. |

While searching the forum for a solution for this problem, I did notice other people having the same problem. It seems like this problem is on 2003 servers. Hopefully that information would help find a solution to the problem.
I realy like the product and would like to find a way to make it work. |

I am seeing the same problem only if I uninstall and reinstall the server enough it will finally, after many, many tries work. Once the server reboots however I am back to square one. I did not see any further entries into this matter since support said they were going to try it out so I thought I would check on it. _________________ Kenney |

After long investigation we isolated this issue to Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 installed. All others, including Windows Server 2003 without SP1, Windows 2000 and XP, do not have this Error 87 problem. We will post a fix in the next 2-3 days: it will be part of the new Viceversa PRO 2 build 2010. _________________ --
