|
|
hi
I'm experiencing an issue with preserving timestamps on files and folders during a visceversa job.
In the profile settings I have ticked the box for "Retain folder created and modified timestamps when copying"
This setting is under Execution>Advanced Settings>More Settings>
The timestamp feature works if the Volume Shadow Copy option is off, but uses the current date and time if the VSS is on.
Can someone explain what's happening here. |

Hi
the timestamp issue was for folders. The files appeared to keep the timestamp correctly.
I am running version Pro 2.5 build 2511 64bit. |

Thanks, which version of Windows are you using?
Could you upgrade to the latest ViceVersa PRO 2.5 build 2515 (free) just in case?

Hi
I have tested this issue with the new version Build 2515 and I am still seeing the same problems.
when I use the Volume shadow copy option the date modified timestamp does not work correctly.
This is the problem I am seeing.
1. Folders that contain no files or sub folders copy with the modified timestamp showing the correct date.
2. Folder that contain files or subfolders copy with modified timestamp showing the current date.
3. Files in folders show the correct timestamp
Is this a bug in ViceVersa? |

Hi, is the created timestamp OK in all cases?
And are all timestamps OK when not using Volume shadow copies?
I have tried on Win 2008 with :
- Use 'Volume Shadow Copy' to copy open files for source
- Create Volume Shadow Copy before comparing source and target
- Retain folder created and modified timestamps when copying
and both modified and created timestamp ofr copied folders are OK even when there are files in them. This was a local disk-2-disk copy not involving the network.

Hi
Yes the created timestamp copies correctly in all cases and all the timestamps are ok when not using volume shadow copy.
I didn't mention that I am also retailing permissions on files too. Maybe this is a factor in the problem. |

Hi, I will try with copying permissions too, however, it is strange that it does not work only when VSS is enabled. _________________ --
