|
|
Hi,
My company is currently using NAV running on MS SQL Express 2008, instead of upgrading to the SQL Standard edition, i'm looking for a solution to mirror/synchronize my Express database to a backup server. Please help to recommend if VV is suitable as well as which add-on to use if i use VV?
Thanks. |

Hi, ViceVersa can replicate the SQL files from a source to a target, but not synchronize records within them, e.g. if both files are changes on both sides at the same time. _________________ --

So, if I use ViceVersa, everytime my source sql file changed, it will copy the whole file to the target? If the sql file is around 2gb, it will take quite a long time to replicate, right? |

Yes, correct, you could schedule the replication to happen daily for instance depending on your network speed. _________________ --

|
|
Hi,
I have two more questions in the row:
1. We are using SQL Server 2012 web edition, which does not support replication... The size of our DB is approx. 1 TB, and similar is the log file... It takes approx. 3 hours to copy these files from one server to another... My question is, what if the source mdf/ldf gets changed many times prior to Vice Versa finish replication of these files... Which version of mdf/ldf will I be having at the destination?
2. It is OK that I can keep running SQL Server at the source location of mdf/ldf... Is it possible to keep SQL Server running at the destination too?
Thanks

The version when the profile started and VSS was initiated in ViceVersa.

No, target can't be in-use as files cannot be overwritten if in-use.
