|
|
Sorry, I know that this has been asked before but...
I have installed the trial of VV Pro and have been trying to decide whether it will work for a project that my team is undertaking. Namely, moving a large file server onto another, larger server.
I have established all needed parameters and it looks like the right product, HOWEVER, I still cannot get the file/folder permissions to copy over.
*Same Domain
*Permissions on Src folder and Dst Folder are different due to locations (for now).
*Have tried both inherited and non inherited permissions on both sides.
Please help as time is running out to pull trigger on project.
Thanks |

Hi, which permissions are not copied? Could it be due to source and target root folders not having the same permissions? thanks _________________ --

Issue is that none of the src permissions are copied. File or Folder.
As to whether it is because of the mismatch? That is what I am trying to determine.
I need to have dst copies be exact copies so that when we insert new server back into network as if it were the src, users don't see any change. |

Thank you, did you activate the option to copy file/folder permissions? It's in ViceVersa profile settings -> advanced settings. thanks _________________ --

Yes, all applicable check boxes were tried. Still have been unable to get permissions to copy via V V.
However, if I simply allow NTFS to take care of the permissions, and set up my dst folder to look like the src, as far as perms go, inheritance will take care of the permissions.
I don't think the flags for permissions in VV actually do anything. |

Hi, the permissions are copied when the option is enabled, but root source and target folders must have the same permissions to start with. thanks _________________ --
