Hi,

I have a problem I think you've already answered, and about the following error message : "Folder not accessible".

When I want to execute the backup (or the comparison) from the software VV pro, there is no such a message. But when i run the profile directly from the VV engine, then the status shows "source or target not accessible".

The target is an external disk, and the source is the local hard disk.

Regards
Ali

Is the target a folder on the network, or a folder on a USB drive? thanks

The target is a folder on a USB drive.

Thanks

If you run ViceVersa "as administrator", e.g. right click on the ViceVersa program icon and select "run as administrator", does it work ? thanks

No change Sad. Very strange !! Especially because it works without any problem when I run the "compare & execute" option from VV pro

PostPosted: Mon Jun 08, 2015 4:02 pm    Post subject: Same Issue with Source or Target Not Accessible Reply with quote

I am having the same issue with vvengine. During the trial there was no issue with the software performing real-time replication from a remote source. After adding the production license we are receiving the "Folder Not Accessible" error. However, I am able to both ping the source server and am able to browse to the share path using UNC. It seems that this occurs when vvengine is running as a service. Thinking this was a permissions issue we created a trust between the two domains and have added the user account that the service is running under as a "full-control" user of the remote share and all files within that share. Still the same error.

Thoughts?

Could it be due to the Service account?
Under which account is the VVEngine service setup to run?
See Additional Information on this page:

thanks

I am having the same problem. I have installed VVEngine as a service Local System (which removed all existing schedules!). I loaded a schedule and ran it manually and got:

[ERROR] Target: folder "\\Ravenshome\Virtual Machines\" not found. The username or password is incorrect.

Quote:
Services do not have access to mapped network drives: use UNC paths in the ViceVersa profile settings if you plan to run VVEngine as a Windows Service and need to access the network.

Done that

Quote:
The local system account does not have access to the network at all. Use the NetworkService account or a user account with network access if you need to access the network.

Done that (admin user)

Quote:
If a password to access the network is needed, enter it in profile settings -> folders -> network in the ViceVersa profile.

Set to default user credentials (it didn't accespt any other users - says "not accessible....)

Same problem!

Got a little bit further useing NETWORKSERVICE as the user. Now it fails saying it can't log on with default user credentials - I shall try something else Does this really need to be so complicated?

Now I get:

"(Folder address) is not accessible using the credntials entered. Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one username are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again"

What is going on? I am not going to disconnect all my shares just to run a backup!

Hi, try using "domain\account" in the ViceVersa profile settings -> network settings.
