I cannot figure out why I can't get VV Pro to sync QBB (QuickBooks) files. The files come up and show as being excluded, yet I've never set any exclusion filter for them. The rest of the profile executes fine and works with all other file types.
I cannot write click on the file and un-exclude.
I do not have the directory excluded (parent or sub)
I do not have an exclusion file filter set up, with or without wildcards.
I've created a new profile and just set it from the directory containing the QBB files to my NAS drive directory. Brand new profile. They all come up with a red X as being excluded.

Forum search shows one matching topic dating back to 2007, so no help there.

Any thoughts?

Appreciate any pointers or guidance as to what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks!

It appears that it is not so much QBB files, as QBB files located in the root directory of OneDrive.

I backup my QBB files locally to my OneDrive root which puts them into the cloud and then backup the drivespace to my NAS.

On one computer, this operation works fine. On another, it does not. (See previous post where files are excluded). I've completely deleted and created a new profile and the situation is repeatable.

If I set the QBB files to store in c:\test, they copy fine. If I have them in \OneDrive, they get excluded.

When the files are in \OneDrive , do only QBB files get excluded? Or any file that is in \OneDrive?

On that particular PC, I only have QBB files in \OneDrive, so I can't definitively sure. However, on another PC, I have documents, images, etc also in \OneDrive and they get backed up without a problem.

It also appears to perhaps have something to do with them being in the \ (root) of \OneDrive as opposed to \subdir ??

So recreating my post..... wonder where it went??)

I created a set of files...a QBB, PDF, XLXS, DOCX, PNG and placed them into the root of OneDrive and also into a temp subdir off of OneDrive. I then ran VVPRo. I did this on two computers.

The results were that VVPro copied all files successfully, across both the root and the subdir.

So that was a good result, but confusing. What is not understood is why VVPro is not seeing the QBB files on the originating computer in/OneDrive. the directory is not excluded and QuickBooks backs up there upon every exit of the program.

Hi, are you accessing the files in the root OneDrive over the network? Only QBB in that root folder have this problem? Is it due to permissions maybe? thanks

yes to root
Yes to only files in the root
Permissions... possible, but I don't know that OneDrive even has permissions since it it so tightly integrated into Windows that it appears as a drive space. I guess I can try to check that out.

I think I found what could be the problem with OneDrive excluded files: ViceVersa PRO excludes files if they are available "online only". There's a column in Windows Explorer showing if OneDrive files are Available Offline or Online-Only. The column is called "Availability". If files are available online only then they are excluded by ViceVersa (correctly I think since the file is not available locally). Can you check if this indeed is the issue?

thanks!

ok. So I checked things out. I see the column you're referring to, but all of the files in question are labeled as "Available Offline."

So I said the heck with it and created a new target folder on my synology drive and created a new VVPro profile and redid things from scratch.

Ran it...and lo and behold everything worked as expected. I will monitor over the next few days to ensure that this is continuing to work as expected.

I can't explain the problem or the solution, but it does "appear" to be resolved by recreating things from scratch.

I took the route of creating a new target folder on the NAS in case the old one had some strange corruption or issue that I couldn't see/diagnose. After running successfully to the new target folder, I wiped the old target folder so as not to get confused with the age of the backups.

Yes. Except for the error 14 target not found using the scheduler that is now appearing. Addressing in the other topic.
