|
|
I'm using ViceVersa Pro (build 2513) to sync files between a Windows 7 system and a target Synology DS412+. The Synology product has a DirSort VFS module, which sorts directory entries alphabetically before sending them to clients.
The sync operation works fine as long as I turn off the DirSort module. When I enable DirSort, my Windows clients seem to work fine and I do indeed get sorted directory listings. But when I do a Compare, VVP does not see many of the files on the Synology target. As you watch the folders go by while it is inventorying the Synology, they go alphabetically, but at the end many entire folders are not found. My Windows clients see these folders on the Synology, but VVP doesn't.
I'm not using a tracking database, and I don't see anything on point on this forum or on Synology's. Any idea what's going on? |

Hi, if you open a Windows command window and use the DIR command to list a folder on the Synology, is there a difference between the DIR directory listing with DirSort VFS module enabled or disabled? thanks _________________ --

Thanks for the reply.
I don't see any differences in the number of files or directories seen. The listing is sorted alphabetically with the DirSort VFS module turned on, and not with it turned off.
I just watched the folder names flash by as VVP inventoried the Synology with DirSort on. It goes through alphabetically, as you'd expect, but it seems to end about halfway through ... in the M's. But when it displays the results, it shows some folders earlier in the sequence (like in the B's) missing as well. So it's not just getting partway through and then quitting. It's missing entries all along the way, if that makes sense. |

Problem solved, apparently. I upgraded the Synology software and it seems to be working fine now with DirSort. There wasn't anything in the release notes that suggested that something was fixed along these lines. |
