VV Pro 2.5 Build 2513 64bit Server Edition

Resolving invalid timestamps

I have been frustrated in my attempt to mirror a source drive
containing about a half million files of which ten thousand or so
have invalid timestamps. VV Pro can find the issues but does
not contain any mechanism to either ignore and or correct them.
This is causing unreliable backups as VV Pro simply skips them,
and in this particular case, is stalling the retirement of a server.
We had a NAT Samba server that did not play nice in a Windows environment which was determined to be responsible for this date problem.

Can you advise how to solve this issue in an efficient fashion. I have already Google'd for programs to do this easily - there are a few but nothing to take care of the number of files involved with this particular issue.

My question(s) are:
Can VVPro correct this on its own, if so how.
If VV can not do this correction, would it be a consideration for
a future version (detect invalid TS and set to DDMMYY)

Thank you in advance

I noted that many have had issue with Maxstore.
This unit is a Thecus NAS 5200 Pro.
It's no longer supported by Thecus so no quick fix from
the manufacturer.

Right now that is the ViceVersa behavior, e.g. if a file has an invalid timestamp, then the file is skipped from the copy. Could you maybe change the timestamp of the files using a powershell script, such as :

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/582553/how-do-i-programatically-change-the-create-modify-access-date-on-a-file/582638

thanks

The script would probably work if the files were in a common folder, in this case there are several hundred sub-directories involved with a few files in each folder.

As the date stamp is no big deal to change, and causes issues with file copy, would it be a consideration for a future version?

Give VV an Ignore Invalid Timestamp option and copy (I would prefer to see it use an operator provided date in these cases and correct the file during copy). In my case the mix in errors are: no creation dates or the modified date is in the 1600's.

This is the only "gotcha" I have yet to experience with VV. Wouldn't this be an fairly easy one to program options for VV to correct?

Let me check if we can change that quickly and send you a special build that does not exclude these files...

Hi, I think we can do this if needed, do you still need ViceVersa to copy those files? thanks!
