I'm running Vice Versa Pro on an office server and on that machine I have two virtualised windows servers running. I have three backups scheduled, one on alternate days and the other weekly. Up until last Wednesday (Australian time) VV would backup the running servers without complaint, however I now have a situation where one VM fails with [Can not read data. Data error (cyclic redundancy check).] [ERROR].

Googling brought up a page on this forum where it was suggested to check the hard drive for errors, but I'm unsure if this works the same for Virtual machines. I did however check both the VM and the host machine drives but there were no errors. As the other VM doesn't have a problem might I assume there is another issue?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks
Roger

Running on the host, but I ended up copying an earlier back up of the VM hard drive (prior to the problem), set up a new machine using that virtual drive and it works. So obviously there was something wrong with the VM drive (even though it seemed to checkout) and it's now running again. There was nothing critical on the server that a couple of days data loss would cause a problem. I just need to know what corrupted the VM in the first place.

Thanks
Roger
