ViceVersa ver. 2513 VVLauncher won't save changed files to the target.
The profile setting I think I need is Replication (Refresh target) and is the one I have been using.

Files that are newly added to the Source will copy to the Target, but changes to files (Word, Excel etc) will not update.
I can send the profile settings and other specs if needed.

I am using Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit.
I have VV configured to backup to a Seagate USB portable drive.
Thanks.

I changed the profile to Replication (Update) and Backup.
Files changes in the Target still do not occur.

I've tried this same scenario on two different computers with two different
backup drives.......one computer and backup drive was encrypted, one was not.

I've never had this issue with VV.

Here are my profile settings:

Profile File: C:\Users\rheil\Documents\ViceVersa PRO\rheil.fsf

Folders
- Sources: (Archived)
- Targets: (Archived)
- "C:\Users\rheil\Documents\" <to> "E:\Users\rheil\Documents\" (Include Subfolders)
- "C:\Users\rheil\Desktop\" <to> "E:\Users\rheil\Desktop\" (Include Subfolders)
- Continue even if some source/target folders are inaccessible
- Create sources/targets that do not exist
Comparison
- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
- Ignore 2 seconds difference
- Ignore any second difference
- Ignore 1 hour difference
- Ignore Timestamp
- Ignore Size
Execution
- Method: Replication (Update Target)
- No overwrite / read-only / error confirmations
- Log File: "C:\ProgramData\ViceVersa PRO\log3.log" (max 10000 KB)
- Archive deleted/replaced source files to: "C:\Archive\"
- Archive deleted/replaced target files to: "E:\Archive\"
- Smart archive
- Archive max. 3 copies per file
- Append Source/Target path to archive folder(s)
- Copy files even if timestamp changes after initial comparison
- Copy directly to destination file (do not use a temporary file)
- Try to copy files that are in use by other applications and if not possible skip them
- Copy file/folder permissions

Thanks.

There is no error returned on the VVLauncher interface for Status.
There are no other errors I have seen.

I have been watching the VVLauncher icon status in the taskbar as the profile runs.
It will always be green when Launcher is on (normal).
When the profile executes and the icon turns yellow for activity, the black arrow will only point one direction.....indicating it's only checking one data source.
At times when I run it manually, the icon will only turn yellow with no black arrow.

The following is an excerpt from the log file at last run:
*Note - There are 9 Word files and 3 folders in the Documents folder
.....2 Word files and one .reg file in the Desktop folder (and assorted shortcuts).....in both the Source and Target locations.
The Documents folder in the Target USB drive shows 1 .tmp file and 2
files with the ~$ pre-pended (as if they are still opened or something
is going on with them.
That makes me question the Total Files, Matched Files and Single Files in
the log below.

Okay, I did further testing and believe I found the issue.
User Account Control was somehow interfering with the detection
of changes and copying the changes to the Target drive.

The solution (so far):
With VV already installed/configured, log in as an admin user and turn UAC off to the lowest setting.
Restart.
Log in with the non-elevated user.
Make a change to a file or files and run the profile.
Verify changes to Target.
Log non-elevated user off
Log admin on and turn UAC back on to highest setting (our standard).
Log non-elevated user back on and any and all file changes
will back up to the Target....even new files added to the Source.

Some changes were made to the profile settings.
They are: no options set in the Comparison settings other than Size and Timestamp.
I will post them at the end of this thread for any useful comparison for other posters.

Have you seen this issue with UAC?
Thanks RH

Sounds like something related to user's permissions on files? Thanks
