VV Pro2 has worked well to copy files/folders from Windows Server 2003 to an external drive. Based on reply from TGRMN in another thread, we added a second external drive to copy the entire Windows Server 2003 drive. It seemed to work perfectly, thank you TGRMN!
But oddly enough, we set the scheduler to run an hour later and changed a few files, just to confirm the copy worked.
But this message appeared:
VSS_E_MAXIMUM_NUMBER_OF_SNAPSHOTS_REACHED.
And asked if we wanted to continue and Disable VSS?
Clarification please. What is "snapshot" |

Hi - A snapshot is the same as a "Volume Shadow Copy". The error here reports that there are too many in the system. Check also the Windows Event Viewer to see if additional messages are present. _________________ --

"The error here reports that there are too many in the system."
Please clarify too many "what"? We have been running this for a while with no problem at all, but then added a new external USB drive so the backup does not go "inside" the box to a second drive, but rather to an external drive connected to the same machine. Also, changed the scheduled time.
Sorry, another dumb question: does one have to enable Windows Event viewer? Can't find it. Or, is this the ordinary event viewer in Windows? |

The error here reports that there are too many [shadow copies = snapshots] in the system.
Can you please post the profile + the log?

It is under Administrative Tools->Computer Management->System Tools on WinXP and Win2003. _________________ --
