Hi

I'm having some issues backing up a Mac system over the network (running Mavericks), but am getting little information from the log file or errors generated. I simply get "The Specified server cannot perform the requested operation" and the log file shown below.

Would anybody have any idea what might be causing the problem? I've done this kind of backup from a different system many times, but this has me stumped.

Many thanks for any help.

Jules

I have now tried running the same profiles but from a different system on the network, using the same source/destination folders.

This time, VV Pro gets part way through the scanning process but then delivers a "Not enough server storage" error, as shown below.

Any help or suggestions very gratefully received.

Jules

The source is a WD MyBook attached to a Mac Pro via FW800 running Mavericks (latest build). The target is an external RAID enclosure attached to a Windows 7 (64bit) system via USB3.

In case you mean file systems, the source (Mac) is Mac OS Extended (journalled) and the target is NTFS.

Hi, ViceVersa is just relaying the error given by Windows... I tried to google the message you are getting "Not enough server storage is available o process this command" , there are a couple of entries, have you already tried that maybe? thanks

Thanks for your response.

Is the error message from the first log file posted above also a Windows error being relayed by VV Pro?

I'm unclear as to which system the error message relates to in each case. In the example in the first post above, does this mean the error is ocurring whilst scanning the source folder (which is on a Mac)? If so, I'm unclear on what kind of Windows error this is.

In the second example (2nd post above) the error seems to relate to the target folder (which is on a Windows 7 PC but not the one I am running VV Pro on). Does this mean the issue is with the host of the target folder, or the system which is running VV Pro?

I'd be enormously grateful for more information as I'm unclear as to which system is causing the problems.

Thanks in advance

Jules

Hi, yes, the first error is related to Windows trying to scan the folder over the network (over SMB which is the protocol both MAC and Windows use to share files over the network).

The second error seems to happen when scanning "\\?\UNC\Trailermen\j\Sample CD" instead.

Maybe the issue is with the machine where ViceVersa is installed, since errors happen with both source and target which are located on two other computers?

I have this error isolated. VVPro is on the PC running Windows 8.1. The mac is connected via Windows networking (Homegroup/Workgroup). All other file operations work fine. Only VV fails, and it does so while scanning the directories on the Mac's hard drive. Mac is running newest Mavericks OS.

Very reproducible. Tried essentially all combinations of settings within VVPro, and nothing fixes.

Is this related to the SMB2 issue in Mavericks? see: www.tgrmn.com/web/forum/viewtopict4393&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15.htm

thanks

Hi, this is not a ViceVersa issue, it's a Mavericks OS issue, see:
