Good morning VVers:

On the web-site, it is stated that "ViceVersa can copy open files without closing the program you are working on." It then goes on to mention specific types of files (Outlook, MS-Office-type files etc.) Are these the only types of files that can be copied when their programs are open?

I raise the question because I have VVE set up to mirror the files created by my PIM (Time & Chaos) to its sister folder on another computer in my home network, as "as soon as changes are detected." However, I keep on getting the error message from VVE "error in one or more profiles." I have the same problem arise even when I run the profile manually in ViceVersa.

I do understand that I should not have the program open on the target computer, but in order to have the files successfully minored over to the target, I have also to close the program on the source computer.

Is that normal?

Thank you.

Hi, you can copy ALL "from" files even if they are open using VSS, see: http://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item33.htm

However a file cannot be overwritten while it is open. The target application could be locking the file to be overwritten?

thanks

Great! Thank you for the reply. I was looking for that information, but did not find it.

Another quick question: does this setting need to be done for each individual profile, or can it be set as a default Advanced setting for all subsequent profiles as they are created?

Thanks again Smile

And that makes sense, when I think of it more carefully. Thanks.
