|
|
Will the log file filling up cause this issue? I have 5 jobs that run each night of the week, these jobs are very similar in setup. All settings are the same in the initial setup like logging, comparison method, hidden execute.
PROBLEM: 2 of the 5 jobs have a status of Terminated Manually and have had that for the past 2 weeks (I was hoping it would work itself out the second week). I noticed my log files on those 2 jobs are almost at their MAX size. Will enabling log clearing before each task help this issue? Is it even related to the log files? The only differences I can find in the jobs are the log file sizes, besides the obvious (running on different nights of the week actual files being copied etc).
Note: None of the jobs ever take longer than a few hours (4 hours is the most I have seen) to run and I have them all set at 12hours max run time. I also do not have a wait command on any jobs.
Thanks for the help. |

Update: Both log files that were associated with the profiles whose status was Terminated Manually were "locked" and would not allow me to clear them. I just overwrote the files to a blank 1KB file and we will see if that fixes the issue. My task is scheduled to run Tuesday 1/7/14. I will post my finding here on Wednesday morning for those with similar issues. |

Both jobs are still failing with Terminated Manually. The logs files (for both) just show the last file it tried to copy, no failures, just
2014-01-09 19:29:50 : Copying file \\*****\Profiles\*****\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst <to> \\*****\FileArchive\Profiles\*****\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst (351.43MB) (Overwriting) ...
It is the same for both, it just hangs on the last file with no errors and when I come in in the morning it says terminated manually.
Log2: 2014-01-07 20:16:55 : Copying file \\*****\Profiles\*****\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\index.dat <to> \\*****\FileArchive\Profiles\*****\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\index.dat (2.23MB) (Overwriting) ...

The only limitation I have on the task is 12hours to run. It seems to be failing after only running for 20-30 minutes. Again my other profiles that are very close to the amount of data and the type of data being pulled runs with no issues.
UPDATE: This morning I came in and instead of Terminated Manually it is displaying "Running" which is impossible because of my 12 hour window. Also the logs stopped recording anything after 24minutes of running. Last log entry below:
19:24:14 : Copying file \\*****\Profiles\*****Erin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\index.dat <to> \\*****\FileArchive\Profiles\*****\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\index.dat (2.23MB) (Overwriting) ...
Still can't get these profiles to complete. |

It looks like the copy job is hanging (on different files each time) and then, due to the 12 hours max, the profile is forcefully stopped (hence terminated manually) but the last time forcefully stopping the profile did not work ... the culprit is why the copying hangs after a few minutes.
Are the other profiles between the same source and targets (on same computers)? Do they also last for more than 20-30 minutes? any profile settings difference?

Yes the other profiles are pulling from the same source and executing them to the same source. They usually run for about 2-3 hours to complete the tasks, some have run in as little as 30 minutes. It is also noteworthy that the file types being copied are almost identical. We are basically backing up roaming profiles to a NAS device, and I have split my company into 5 profiles. All settings for the profiles match, which makes this even harder to solve. I did notice it hanging on copying but it seems to hang on a different file every time so it is not the file itself. I really appreciate all the help and ideas, this is starting to become a bigger issue than originally thought.
IDEA: Is it worth deleting the profile and task and starting over, it would probably only take an hour or so to do? |

First sentence should say, "Pulling from same source and executing to the same target" - clarification in case anyone was confused. |

Hi, is it always the same profile hanging? Are there multiple profiles running together? Any anti-virus enabled? Firewall? Personally I do not think rebuilding the profile will help.... _________________ --

It is always the same 2 profiles that are hanging. No I have each profile run on its own night. No AV enabled. Firewall - yes - but it should affect all profiles since it is the same source and target. I am stumped as well, I really appreciate all your help. |

In one of my previous posts I made and error, it IS the same file every time.
Profile 1 is hanging on the file: Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\index.dat (2.23MB)
Profile 2 is hanging on the file: AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst (351.43MB)
Those files are common is all the profiles so I don't understand why Vice Versa won't copy them on these profiles.
I believe this is no longer a Vice Versa issue but would appreciate any ideas you might have. |

It IS a different file that Vice Versa is hanging on....
2014-01-21 19:39:18 : Copying file \\*****\Profiles\*****\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat <to> \\*****\FileArchive\Profiles\*****\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat (5.00MB) (Overwriting) ...
This is going on almost a month, any more ideas would be very helpful.
Thanks.[/b] |
